Zero Tolerance Knives (often called ZT or ZT Knives) is a premium USA-made folding knife brand specializing in hard-use, overbuilt tactical and EDC folders for military, law enforcement, first responders, and enthusiasts

Launched in 2006 by Kai USA Ltd. (Tualatin, Oregon)—a subsidiary of the global Kai Group (Japan, founded 1908)—as a sister brand to Kershaw Knives. Kai USA identified a market gap for rugged, Made-in-the-USA knives that could withstand extreme demands without compromise, embodying "zero tolerance for anything less than the best."

Initial lineup (2006–2008) focused on tactical folders and fixed blades like the 0100, 0500 M.U.D.D., and 0610ST—praised as "real beasts" and "proudly overbuilt." The breakthrough came in 2009 with the iconic 0350 (Ken Onion design), a sturdy assisted-opening folder that became a brand staple and popularized ZT in EDC circles

ZT innovated further: 2011 introduced the groundbreaking 0777 (Reeve Integral Lock, titanium frame). Collaborations with designers like Dmitry Sinkevich, RJ Martin, and Les George expanded the lineup with premium steels (CPM 20CV, S35VN, Magnacut), KVT ball-bearing pivots, and titanium/Micarta handles

Headquartered in Oregon with in-house manufacturing, ZT remains a benchmark for precision American craftsmanship, durability, and performance—earning a loyal following in the tactical knife community
