Zero Tolerance ZT 0566 handle scales

The Zero Tolerance 0566 (often called ZT 0566) is a compact, assisted-opening folder that bridged ZT's overbuilt heritage with more accessible EDC appeal

Zero Tolerance, founded in 2006 by Kai USA, specialized in rugged, USA-made tactical knives. The larger ZT 0560 (Rick Hinderer design, ~2011–2012) became a fan favorite for its tough frame lock, premium steel, and SpeedSafe assisted action

To offer a smaller, lighter alternative—positioned between the massive 0560 and Kershaw Cryo—ZT collaborated again with renowned custom knifemaker Rick Hinderer. The 0566 was unveiled at SHOT Show 2013 (January 2013), with production shipments starting late 2013 (November 2013 per reviews and videos)

Key specs: 3.25" ELMAX (later CPM S35VN) stonewashed drop-point blade, black G-10 scale over stainless frame lock (unique non-titanium lock side for ZT), flipper opener with SpeedSafe, quad-mount clip, and ~5.3–5.4 oz weight. Priced ~$180–$200 MSRP, it delivered Hinderer ergonomics, solid lockup, and fast deployment in a more pocket-friendly package

Variants included 0566BW (BlackWash), 0566CF (carbon fiber), and FDE options. Discontinued later, it remains praised as a sweet-spot EDC—tough, reliable, and value-driven—solidifying ZT's collaboration legacy with Hinderer
