The Beretta 80X Cheetah (model 80X, often called 80X Cheetah) is a modern revival and upgrade of the legendary Beretta Cheetah (80 Series) compact blowback pistols, first introduced in 1976 as the Series 81 (later dubbed "Cheetah" in the mid-1990s)

The original Cheetah lineup—Models 81 (.32 ACP, double-stack), 82 (.32 ACP, single-stack), 84 (.380 ACP, 13+1 double-stack), 85 (.380 ACP, 8+1 single-stack), and others—gained fame for reliable DA/SA operation, open-top slide (shared with the 92 series), low recoil, and excellent concealability for police, military, and civilian use. Production of classic models ended in 2017, as polymer micro-compacts dominated the market

Recognizing enduring demand and a gap in premium .380 options, Beretta revived the platform in 2023 (announced early 2023, e.g., SHOT Show previews and Beretta's Launch Edition in bronze). The 80X Cheetah reimagines the Model 84FS with contemporary enhancements: Vertec-style straight-back grip, Picatinny rail, optics-ready slide (RMSc footprint), improved X-Treme S DA/SA trigger, skeletonized hammer, dovetailed sights, easier-racking slide serrations, captive recoil rod, tuned recoil spring for softer feel, and reliable hollow-point feeding via updated magazines

Key specs: 3.8" barrel, 13+1 .380 ACP capacity, aluminum frame, ~22–24 oz. Later variants include Urban Tactical (2024, threaded barrel, extended mags) and .32 ACP conversion (2025, accepts Model 81 mags)

Priced ~$700–$900 MSRP, the 80X Cheetah blends Italian heritage with modern EDC features—optics compatibility, accessory rail, and refined ergonomics—making it a favorite for concealed carry enthusiasts seeking low-recoil reliability
