Kizer (officially Kizer Cutlery), a leading Chinese premium EDC knife brand, was founded in 2012 in Yangjiang, Guangdong—the "City of Knives"—by Johnson Zhang (Zhang Jian), a passionate knife enthusiast and entrepreneur

Zhang started as an OEM manufacturer for international brands, gaining deep expertise in high-end production, premium steels, and fit/finish. Frustrated by limited creative control, he launched Kizer to design and produce original knives blending innovative mechanics, top materials (S35VN, CPM-20CV, Nitro-V, titanium, Micarta), and exceptional value

The brand exploded with early hits like the Feist (button lock, 2015), Begleiter (2016), and Gemini (2017), praised for smooth action, premium build, and affordability (~$50–$150 MSRP). Collaborations with designers Azo, Ray Laconico, Gavko, QSP, and Vox/Anso elevated Kizer's reputation

By 2020, Kizer became a global favorite for tactical folders, gentleman's EDC knives, flipper knives, and button-lock models, known for consistent quality, innovative locks (crossbar, button, liner), and community-driven releases. Today, Kizer remains independent, synonymous with high-performance Chinese craftsmanship and accessible premium folding knives worldwide
