Raised on a grain farm in central Canada, Keith developed a passion for the outdoors, hunting, and shooting from childhood—starting with .22 rifles and progressing to 12-gauge shotguns by age 8. Living in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley, with abundant trophy hunting opportunities, he grew frustrated with existing knife designs that didn't meet hunters' real needs
In 1991, Keith launched Katz Knives Inc. to create high-quality knives tailored for hunters and outdoorsmen. He personally designs every model, emphasizing innovative features, superior fit/finish, and performance rivaling custom knives at accessible prices
Production is outsourced to top manufacturers in Japan, Spain, and China, using proprietary steels like XT80 (58-59 HRC) and XT70 (56 HRC), along with premium materials for durability and style
Over 30+ years, Katz introduced over 155 models and variations—fixed blades, folders, axes, and multi-tools—earning praise for reliability, unique styling, and value in EDC knives, hunting knives, and tactical blades.
