In 2018, Ka-Bar—in collaboration with Ethan Becker of Becker Knife & Tool—released the BK62 Kephart (model BK62) as a faithful modern recreation of the iconic Kephart knife, designed by outdoorsman and author Horace Kephart around 1909–1910 for Appalachian wilderness use. Ethan Becker, owner of one of the only two known pristine original Kephart knives (outside museums), used this rare example as the direct reference for accurate proportions and geometry

Announced in November 2018 (KnifeNews and dealer previews), the Ka-Bar Becker BK62 Kephart debuted with initial runs in late 2018 and wider availability in January 2019. It features a 5.125-inch spear-point blade in tough 1095 Cro-Van carbon steel (stonewashed, full-flat grind) for superior slicing, wood processing, and edge retention. Weighing ~8 oz with 9.625-inch overall length, it boasts full-tang construction, natural walnut handles (first natural material in Becker collabs), and a leather sheath—ideal for bushcraft knives, survival knives, and camping knives

Priced ~$230–$250 MSRP (USA-made), it earned praise for historical accuracy, ergonomic comfort, and rugged performance—differentiating it from other Kepharts by staying true to the original pristine specimen. The BK62 solidified Ka-Bar's Becker line as a benchmark in traditional bushcraft knives and paid homage to Kephart's legacy in American outdoor heritage

The scales are compatible with various modifications of the Becker Kephart BK62 model:

  • Ka-Bar Becker Kephart BK62
  • CPK Kephart
