Springfield Armory 1794 marks the founding of the U.S. Springfield Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts, on April 2, 1794, by order of President George Washington and Secretary of War Henry Knox. Established to produce standardized military firearms for the new nation, it replaced reliance on imported muskets and private contractors
The armory began operations in 1795 under superintendent Henry Wadsworth, producing the Model 1795 Springfield musket—America's first standardized military longarm, based on the French Charleville musket. By the War of 1812, Springfield had perfected interchangeable parts, pioneering mass production decades before Eli Whitney's claims

Why wood, not G10 or micarta?
Wood offers greater comfort, warmth, and aesthetic satisfaction. Wood is lighter and more pleasant to hold. Wooden grips are best suited for customization and hand finishing. Or perhaps made from G10 and micarta. Why not?
