The Bride of Frankenstein—often called the "Monster's Bride"—is the tragic, unnamed female creation in James Whale's 1935 film Bride of Frankenstein, a sequel to the 1931 classic. Played by Elsa Lanchester (who also portrayed Mary Shelley in the prologue), the Bride is assembled by Dr. Henry Frankenstein and the mad Dr. Pretorius from a female corpse to be a mate for Boris Karloff's Monster

Revived with electricity in a dramatic tower scene, she awakens with a hissing scream, recoils in horror at the Monster's scarred face, and rejects him. Heartbroken, the Monster declares "She hate me! Like others!" and destroys the laboratory in despair, sacrificing himself and the Bride to end their misery

Inspired by Mary Shelley's 1818 novel (where Victor destroys the unfinished female companion to prevent more monsters), the film adds pathos and horror. The Bride's iconic white-streaked hair, lightning-bolt neck scars, and jerky movements became enduring symbols in horror cinema
