Style features
The Fallen Angel concept—angels cast from Heaven—originates in ancient Near Eastern myths but crystallized in Abrahamic traditions. The Bible hints at it in Isaiah 14:12 ("How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!") and Revelation 12:7–9 (war in heaven, dragon/Satan sweeps a third of stars/angels)
Expanded in pseudepigrapha like the Book of Enoch (2nd–1st century BC): the Watchers (led by Samyaza and Azazel) descend, mate with women, sire Nephilim giants, and teach forbidden arts (metallurgy, sorcery, warfare). God chains Azazel in Dudael desert; others bound until Judgment
Lucifer (from Latin "light-bringer," Isaiah's morning star) became the archetype of prideful rebellion, equated with Satan. Later theology (Milton's Paradise Lost, 1667) dramatized the fall as cosmic war over pride
