The Phoenix Redback is a premium Swiss 9mm competition pistol from PHX Phoenix AG, directly evolving from the legendary Sphinx 3000 series
After Sphinx Systems AG bankruptcy in 2015 (following KRISS Group acquisition in 2012), former founder and IPSC champion Armin Landolt founded PHX Phoenix AG around 2016–2017. He acquired key machinery from the estate to revive the CZ-75-inspired platform with Swiss precision upgrades
The Redback debuted at IWA 2018 as Phoenix's flagship — an all-steel (or hybrid steel/aluminum) DA/SA (or SAO) handgun featuring hand-fit zero-play slide-to-frame rails, cold-hammer-forged polygonal barrel, tri-angled trigger, ambidextrous controls, and modular optics-ready system
Designed for IPSC Production, Carry Optics, and USPSA, it offers variants like Ultralight, Duotone, and Gen 2 (with quick-change plates and enhanced grips). Endurance-tested beyond 200,000 rounds, the Redback symbolizes Swiss resurgence in high-end sporting pistols, now imported via B&T USA
