The WE Knife Big Banter (model WE21045 series, often called Big Banter) is the larger sibling in the hugely popular Banter family, designed by American knifemaker Ben Petersen
The original Banter (WE19068 series) launched around 2019–2020, becoming an instant EDC hit for its slim profile, CPM S35VN blade, thumb stud opener, liner lock, and perfect ergonomics—praised as one of the best budget-premium folders
Fans soon requested a "bigger" version for more cutting power without losing the Banter's refined feel. Ben Petersen responded with the Big Banter, scaling up the design: 3.69" CPM 20CV drop-point blade (stonewashed or satin), 8.34" open length, 0.13" thickness, dual thumb studs, liner lock, and G-10 or canvas Micarta scales over skeletonized liners
Announced in 2022 (KnifeNews coverage October 2022; GearJunkie review November 2022), it shipped late 2022 (some variants dropping November 2022). Priced ~$150–$200 MSRP, it offers enhanced utility for harder tasks while retaining smooth action, deep-carry clip, and lightweight build (~3.5–4 oz)
Variants include black/green G-10 and Micarta options. The Big Banter solidified the Banter series as a benchmark for versatile, high-value EDC folders, blending Ben Petersen's clean aesthetics with WE Knife's precision manufacturing
