Spyderco Smock handle scales

The Spyderco Smock (model C240, often called Smock) is a innovative collaboration folder featuring a reconfigured Compression Lock with push-button release, making it one of Spyderco's most unique flipper designs

Designed by award-winning industrial designer and custom knifemaker Kevin Smock, the concept originated from his SK23 custom folder. In 2015, Kevin licensed Spyderco's patented Compression Lock and Trademark Round Hole™, re-engineering the lock from a traditional spine position to a front-handle button release for smoother, safer one-handed closing

Spyderco recognized the SK23's potential and collaborated to produce a refined version. The Spyderco Smock launched in early 2019 (regular production starting February 2019 with CPM S30V blade, carbon fiber/G-10 laminate scales)

Standout features: 3.39" hollow-ground blade (modified Wharncliffe/drop-point hybrid), dual deployment (flipper + Spydie Hole), button Compression Lock, lightweight ~3.6 oz build, reversible tip-up clip, and sleek ergonomics. Made in Taiwan for precision and accessibility

Priced around $250–$263 MSRP, it became a fan favorite for its fidget-friendly action, slim profile, and high-performance EDC utility. Later variants (e.g., exclusives with 20CV, M4, Micarta) and a 2024 pivot update further boosted its cult status
