In 2022, Knafs—the fun, community-driven EDC knife brand founded in 2018 by YouTuber Ben Petersen (Ben Banters) and his wife Athena Petersen—launched the Lander (model KNAFS-LANDER series) as their first full-production folding knife
After years of designing for WE Knife/Civivi (including the iconic Banter), Ben wanted a knife that embodied Knafs' playful yet practical ethos—reliable, fidget-friendly, and perfect for everyday carry without pretension. Teased on his YouTube channel in late 2021, the Lander debuted in early 2022 (first drops and reviews around February–March 2022)
The Knafs Lander features a 3.0-inch drop-point blade in premium CPM-S35VN stainless steel (satin or stonewash) for excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance. Weighing ~3.2 oz with 7.1-inch overall length, it includes a crossbar lock (Axis-style), thumb-stud deployment, caged ball bearings for silky action, textured G-10 or Micarta handles (multiple colors), and reversible deep-carry clip—ideal for everyday carry (EDC knives), urban tasks, and light outdoor use
Priced ~$150–$200 MSRP (China-made with meticulous QC), it earned instant praise for smooth operation, comfortable ergonomics, and "no-BS" reliability—quickly selling out drops and spawning variants (button lock, titanium, carbon fiber, exclusive editions). The Lander solidified Knafs as a rising star in premium folding knives, blending Ben's design expertise with the brand's approachable, community-first vibe
