SAR grips

SAR (Sarsilmaz) firearms trace their origins to 1880, when Abdüllatif Bey founded a small family workshop in Elazığ, Turkey, during the late Ottoman Empire. Initially focused on producing and repairing flintlock rifles, the business grew across five generations into Sarsilmaz Silah Sanayi A.Ş. — Turkey's largest privately owned small arms manufacturer, meaning “unshakable” in Turkish

Key milestones:

  • 1956: Relocated headquarters to Istanbul, expanding trading and production
  • Post-WWII era: Shifted to modern firearms, becoming the sole private supplier of pistols to the Turkish National Police and Turkish Armed Forces
  • Modern expansion: Built massive facilities in Düzce, producing military, law enforcement, and civilian pistols, rifles, and ammunition. Exports reached over 80 countries

The pivotal U.S. entry came in 2018, when Sarsilmaz launched SAR USA (later rebranded toward Sarsilmaz in 2026) as its exclusive importer. This introduced popular models like the SAR 9 striker-fired pistol — winner of “Handgun of the Year” awards — delivering NATO-tested reliability and value to American shooters

From Ottoman workshop to global leader, SAR embodies over 140 years of innovation, precision engineering, and unshakable quality in firearms
