Beretta is the world’s oldest active firearms manufacturer, founded in 1526 in Gardone Val Trompia, Italy. The company began when Bartolomeo Beretta supplied arquebus barrels to the Venetian Republic, establishing a reputation for precision metalworking. For centuries, Beretta focused on barrels and long guns, serving military and civilian markets across Europe. The company entered handgun production during World War I with the Beretta M1915, its first semi-automatic pistol. Designed for the Italian Army, the M1915 featured a simple blowback system and robust construction. This milestone marked Beretta’s evolution into a global pistol manufacturer and laid the foundation for its modern handgun legacy
