1911 compact size Officers grips
The 1911 compact size Officers (or Officer's Model) is a subcompact variant of John Moses Browning's classic M1911 platform, designed for concealed carry. Introduced by Colt in 1985 as the Officer's ACP, it features a 3.5-inch barrel, shortened Officer-sized frame, and overall length of about 7.5 inches. Standard capacity is 6+1 rounds in .45 ACP (often 7+1 or 8+1 in 9mm variants from modern makers like Taurus, Ruger, Kimber, Springfield, and Nighthawk Custom). It retains the single-action trigger, thumb safety, grip safety, and legendary reliability, but with snappier recoil due to the compact size. Ideal for everyday carry, self-defense, and custom builds, the Officers model offers excellent concealability while delivering 1911 accuracy and stopping power
The 1911 compact size pistol emerged in the mid-20th century as manufacturers adapted the classic 1911 design for concealed carry and personal defense. By shortening the barrel and grip frame, gunsmiths created lighter, more compact variants while retaining the single-action trigger and .45 ACP or 9mm chambering. Popularized by Colt and later custom builders, the compact 1911 balanced portability with the proven reliability of the original Government Model. These designs expanded the 1911 platform into civilian, law enforcement, and defensive markets worldwide
